Loftelle exists for one small, stubborn reason: a soft robe should still feel soft long after the first week. This is how we got here.
The problem
Soft for a month, then flat forever
You know the robe. It feels like a cloud in the shop, and for a few weeks it’s the best part of your morning. Then the pile starts lying down. It mats under your arms and across your shoulders, goes thin where you sit, and comes out of the dryer feeling more like a carpet than a cuddle.
Most plush robes are sold on a print, a name or a price tag. Very few are sold on what the fabric is actually doing. We wanted to change that.
The discovery
Softness isn’t a surface. It’s a structure.
When we started looking closely at plush fabric, the difference between a robe that stays soft and one that doesn’t came down to one thing: whether the fibres stand up or lie down.
Fibres that lie flat feel smooth at first but have nowhere to go. Fibres brushed to stand upright hold a cushion of air between them. That air is what gives a fabric its depth under your hand, its warmth without weight, and its ability to rise back after you lean, sit and wash.
So we built our fabric around it. A steady base knit, a brushed upright pile, and the loft of air in between. We called it CloudLoft™ Pile, and every Loftelle robe starts there.
